The area of good living & traditions
The pleasures of Gers Cooking
Tasty dishes, foie gras, duck preserves and fine beverages like Armagnac and guaranteed regional wines, all specialities of the Gers which excite the taste buds and are the expression of an outstanding art of living. Thanks to produce from traditional farms and generational methods of preparing it, the cuisine of the Gers has cleverly clung to its authenticity.
The magic of the Gers Fairs and festivals
Situated not far from Spain, the Gers has a strong bullfighting tradition. Landes races and corridas fill summer afternoons for aficionados. As throngs make their way to bullrings, there are often unique party scenes on the way, to the strains of the music of bandas. By night, streets come alive, with singing and dancing...you are in the heart of the feria. Jazz, Salsa, Country & Western, Gascon music and culture...the Gers also plays host to many festivals. Betwixt the warm land and the starry sky many different kinds of music ring out. These are special moments shared by musicians and audiences, where the setting adds to the magic of the moment.

The Gers vineyards
The vineyards clinging to the sunny hillsides were brought by the Romans. Since then, their cultivation has never ceased in the western part of the department. Armagnac, floc and numerous appellations such as Madiran, St Mont, Côtes de Gascogne show the wealth and diversity of the vineyards of the Gers.
