I moved to the Cadiz from Madrid just over five years ago. I originally moved from the UK to Madrid as at the time there was no other option than to live where most of my clients were. Internet has changed all that and I can now live in an area that offers me an improved quality of life and the lifestyle that I enjoy. The Bay of Cadiz area offers something for everyone and some of the most beautiful beaches and mountainous areas of Spain are within easy reach.

I am self-employed as a translator, but most of my earnings are from companies in Madrid, Bilbao and other European Member States. I translate for a wide range of customers in various sectors and I consider myself to be very lucky, because I can do all this work from my home near the beach in the south of Spain using the internet as the main method of communication and without all the hassle of living in a major city.

I think this project provides us with a valuable support system and access to local resources. I am very excited about the programme organised for the coming year. The main benefit so far has been to help me meet other SOHO workers who have come to live in this area from all over Europe.
